Energy Conservation Project (2001-2005)
Universal Studios Hollywood - Universal City, California
Summary:

Installed PowerLogic/Square D's ION Enterprise software suite which is a complete web-enabled power management solution. It helped track real-time power conditions, analyze power quality and reliability, as well as allowed us to view historical trends to reveal energy waste.

Creating an annual company-wide employee energy awareness program. This consisted of creating a logo for t-shirts, sweaters, posters, banners, sticky-pads, and other promotional material. Organizing local utilities to come on-site as a resource in promoting energy conservation.

Changing the attractions in the theme park to run more energy efficient. An example of this was installing new MCCs that included VFD's that would regulated the demand/load factor on several exhaust/intake fans, and water pumps used inside several of the rides and attractions.

Working with the finance and electrical departments, I found electrical over-charges in excess of over $700,000/yr. This has now added to the theme parks annual savings.
